Writer - Director
I am a writer-director who tells stories about conformists who become unafraid to rebel against societal expectations and take control of their own lives.
I started making films when I was 16 years old and had a passion for music and documentary making, this led to a consistent creation of mini documentaries for unsigned bands in the Birmingham rock scene.
This was developed further when I embarked on the BFI Film Academy - Documentary Academy Wales Network in 2014. Since then, I have been a member of the Youth Jury for the 2014 BFI London International Film Festival, have worked for a number of the UK’s renowned companies in both film and TV such as Channel 4, BBC and Endemol Shine and have recently developed the Hit RESET Manifesto which is geared towards bringing about ethical and sustainable changes to the accessibility and inclusivity of the entertainment industry.
Currently, I work part time as Head of Communications for a charity and spend the rest of my time writing scripts and working on my debut LGBTQIA+ YA novel, Mouthwash, which is due to be released in Summer 2024.
When I’m not busy telling stories that amplify marginalised voices, you can find me on stage performing stand up comedy or developing my slate of projects with my production company, YazNess Productions.
Check out my slate of projects by heading to the projects tab or get in touch by heading to the contact tab.
